David J Gailey

Author & Storyteller

I write fantasy stories with complex characters in rich, diverse settings. I’m glad you’re here.

Hello. My name is David.

Thank you for visiting my site. While I’ve written extensively over the years, I still consider myself in the early stages of my writing journey. Writers aren’t simply born or made — they’re shaped by adversity and experience. Often, it takes years of self-doubt and struggle before an author fully embraces their identity as a writer. As Lorrie Moore says in How to Become a Writer, “First, try to be something, anything, else.” Stephen King begins his memoir, On Writing, with an extensive account of his life, reminding us that a writer’s journey is deeply personal and shaped by more than just the craft — it’s driven by an innate need to tell their story.
Through this site, I aim to share some of the projects I’m working on, along with poems, essays, and short stories I’ve written, offering a glimpse into my personality and passions. Thank you for exploring my work and supporting this journey.
