Reflection · Part Two
Fitting In vs. Belonging
Fitting in can look like connection from the outside.
We may be included. Accepted. Close to the group.
But if we had to edit ourselves to get there, some part of us may still wonder:
Did they accept me?
Or did they accept the version of myself I created for them?
That is the paradox of fitting in.
We may gain proximity without ever experiencing genuine connection.
Belonging asks something more vulnerable of us. It asks us to risk being seen as we are.
And it does not mean everyone will accept us.
It means we no longer abandon ourselves just for the chance.
